Project Title: Benefits, drawbacks and mechanisms of remote group-based interventions for the prevention and management of chronic physical conditions: informing new modes of delivering primary care post-pandemic
Brief Summary: This project explores virtual group interventions, which are typically delivered through videoconferencing software to a group of participants who all have/are at risk of a common condition, such as type two diabetes. A healthcare professional or trained facilitator leads the sessions, which typically focus on making lifestyle changes, like improving diet or increasing physical activity. This project aims to explore the advantages and disadvantages of virtual group interventions in primary care, who they work for and don’t work for, as well as how they work to initiate and sustain behaviour change, and any changes in health inequity that they may be associated with.
