After the release of the much anticipated REF 2014 results in December, case studies illustrating impact and highlighting the key strengths of individual research projects were published in the Panel Overview Reports by the Higher Education Funding Council for England on 23 January.

 

In the Overview report by Main Panel A (UOA 2: Public Health, Health Services and Primary Care), panellists were encouraged with the high level of research impact, public engagement and by the number of early career researchers submitted to each of the sub-panels. Improved quality of research was largely attributed to the increased funding provided by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) since its establishment in 2006.

REF impact case studies funded by the School and published in the Results & Submissions section include the following:

It is a measure of our success that so many REF 2014 impact case studies arose from work funded by the School. The renewed NIHR School funding from 1 October 2015 and the addition of two new partners, University of Cambridge and Newcastle University, will allow us to foster new collaborations and build on the work to date."
