In February this year, the School opened a Covid-19 rapid response call to fund projects that would help improve our understanding of the virus, its epidemiology, management, and consequences for health care delivery. Six projects were awarded funding.

The University of Bristol's Mairead Murphy and Jeremy Horwood's RAPCI study monitored changes in general practice during the first few months of the pandemic. They investigated how staff coped and how consultations with patients had changed. The main findings included a reduction in the number of consultations, a change in the types of consultation - from face-to-face to telephone or video. Researchers also looked at how staff coped with the change to remote consultations.
