Ideally you should recruit contributors in the same way you would recruit study participants, as your contributors should represent the population you are investigating. Ways of doing this include:

  • Placing adverts and posters in appropriate community and clinical settings to identify interested individuals
  • Contact relevant charities and organisations directly to see if they know of any interested individuals, or can advertise your opportunity to their community.
  • Advertising on disease relevant social media groups is another way you can reach your target audience (Facebook, Twitter, Forums etc.)
  • There is a PPI database created by INOVLVE which allows researchers to advertise opportunities to individuals who are already interested in PPI https://www.peopleinresearch.org/
