Esther van Vliet
- SPCR Patient and Public Involvement & Engagement Manager
I joined the School for Primary Care Research in December 2018. My passion for Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) started when I wrote my masters’ thesis on open innovation and stakeholder involvement in medicine development. After receiving my MSc in Innovation Sciences from Eindhoven University of Technology (the Netherlands), I moved to England to become a PPIE professional.
In the last years I worked on stakeholder involvement at the European Medicines Agency, facilitated patient and public involvement in dementia research at Alzheimer’s Society and most recently I organised various public engagement activities on behalf of the Babraham Institute in Cambridge.
In my role I support the delivery of the School’s PPI and public engagement programme, including delivering training, advising applicants to SPCR funding calls and manage PPIE funding calls. I work closely with PPI leads based at all partners to share our best practices.
