  • Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Manager

I joined the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) School for Primary Care Research (SPCR) in August 2023 as the SPCR’s Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Manager.

My skills and passion for patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) have developed over the last 7 years through roles supporting and leading on PPIE at the Patient Experience Research Centre (Imperial College London), Cicely Saunders Institute (King’s College London) and Alzheimer’s Society.

In these roles I was responsible for providing advice and support for PPIE, building capacity for PPIE for both researchers and the public, developing and evaluating PPIE strategies and leading on PPIE within research projects.

I have a passion for co-produced and participatory approaches to research, with a focus on the involvement of under-represented and under-served communities, as well as an interest in developing meaningful ways to involve the public in more challenging (such as big data research) and sensitive (such as Palliative Care) research areas.

I look forward to bringing my skills and experience to this role to support the SPCR PPIE leads and the delivery of the School’s PPIE strategy and activities.
