Margaret Smith

Senior Statistician and Epidemiologist

I have been working in the Department since October 2014. I am a medical statistician and I am part of the CPRD (Clinical Practice Research Datalink) group. I am currently working on both the data management and statistical analysis of a study on BMI and end stage renal disease, combining linked CPRD and HES data.

Before joining the Department I worked in the Nuffield Department of Population Health on two very large prospective observational studies of Chinese men and women, so I have plenty of experience in the management and statistical analysis of large observational studies. I was particularly interested in studying the epidemiology of respiratory disease in the Chinese population and I am keen to be involved in more studies of COPD or other respiratory disease.
