Project Title:  How do, and how should, primary care clinicians approach decisions regarding hospital admission for frail patients?

Brief Summary:  An empirical bioethics project exploring the cognitive experience of primary care clinicians surrounding admission decisions for frail patients. I will use qualitative methods centred around ethnographic observation to explore how primary care clinicians make these decisions, including the use of any ethical, legal or decision making principles. I will also consider which principles may be the most appropriate in this context. Finally I will integrate my empirical findings with the ethical discussion and consider how this could shape or improve future practice.
