Tomazo Joseph Kallis

Award title: PhD for Primary Care Clinicians (Wellcome)

Project Title:  PPhoCUs: Polypharmacy, pharmacists and clinical uncertainty

Brief Summary: PPhoCUs will encompass multiple methods to understand how pharmacists rationalise polypharmacy in general practice and patient experiences of clinical pharmacist care. I will use qualitative semi-structured interviews, clinical observations of primary care medication reviews, quantitative survey questionnaires, focus groups and consensus exercises as my methods. The ultimate aim of the project is to understand what gaps exist between the current postgraduate education pathways and primary care pharmacist educational needs for managing clinical uncertainty in the context of complex polypharmacy.
