Today is the start of World Alzheimer’s Month and the NIHR is launching a campaign to highlight how research is the only way to beat the disease and everyone can get involved.

Every 3 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer’s is the most common type of dementia. Both Alzheimer’s and dementia are now the leading cause of death for women in England and the second most common for men. There is currently no cure, but drug treatment can help with some of the day-to-day symptoms and the challenge for researchers is to find new ways to treat the condition and enable people to live well with dementia.
