\n \n \n \nThe NIHR Trainees Co-ordinating Centre held it's 10th Annual NIHR Trainee Meeting 'Research leaders of the future' on 6-7 December, where SPCR GPCP trainee Dr Shoba Poduval won Best Poster Prize.

\n \n \n \nThe School celebrated ten years of primary care research at the Wellcome Collection on 22 November. Delegates from around the country were welcomed with a programme of presentations and discussions about past, present and future research impact. The showcase highlighted the increased evidence base provided by the School to date as well as research that promises to add a lot more to this in the future.

\n \n \n \nDr Juliet Usher-Smith, Clinical Lecturer at the Primary Care Unit at the University of Cambridge has been awarded a Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Prevention Fellowship of almost \u00a3450k for her research entitled 'Developing a very brief intervention to promote behaviour change for cancer prevention in primary care.'

\n \n \n \nDr Matthew Ridd, a practising GP and Consultant Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol, has won the 2017 John Fry Award. Matthew's research explores continuity of care and person-centred care, with a foundation in dermatological issues in general practice and wider primary care.

\n \n \n \nWorld leading research on ageing at Newcastle University's Institute for Ageing was recognised by the Queen as part of her 90th birthday celebrations. A new Regius Professorship was created, one of twelve in the country, which recognises exceptionally high quality research.
