\n \n \n \nProfessor Dame Sally C.Davies spoke to invited guests and trainees about the significance of primary care research at a dinner to celebrate the School's renewal on 21 September. She illustrated research impact with examples from the School's contributions over the past nine years. The dinner was held at Somerville College, Oxford, after two guest lectures by Chris Ham (The King's Fund) and Graham Watt (Glasgow University).

\n \n \n \nSchool representation at this year's SAPC Annual Scientific Meeting in Oxford was impressive. From trainees in the early stages of their PhDs to senior researchers, the programme was littered with members delivering presentations, elevator pitches, chairing sessions and leading mini symposia.

\n \n \n \nCongratulations to Professor Carl Heneghan who was selected in the top 100 most influential clinical leaders (for innovation) for the second time by the Health Service Journal at a private reception last night. He initially secured a place on the list in 2013.

\n \n \n \nInternational Clinical Trials Day, held this year on the 20th May, marks the anniversary of the start of James Lind\u2019s famous trial into the causes of scurvy in 1747. The NIHR will mark the day with an 'OK to ask' campaign, calling on patients and carers to ask their doctor about NHS research they can take part in.
