The School’s funding has enabled me to carry out this fascinating research. Through supporting my academic and research skills development, and access to additional resources, I have been able to conduct high quality research. I hope that from my research, we as academics and health professionals in primary care can better understand the perspectives that parents and carers of children with eczema bring to consultations."

Congratulations to the University of Southampton's Beth Stuart and SPCR trainee Bethan Treadgold who won best Oral Presentation Prize and Early Career Researcher Prize, respectively, at the South West SAPC conference held in Bristol on 5 & 6 March.

Bethan's PhD, at the University of Southampton, investigates the online experiences of parents and carers of children with eczema, "I’m exploring how influential online resources such as discussion forums and social media sites are for parents, the type of advice and support parents exchange online about eczema, and more."

Congratulations are also extended to SPCR researcher Oliver van Hecke who won Best Poster Prize. Oliver's poster is the result of his work with graphic designers to develop visual material to engage parents with the concepts of antibiotic use and antibiotic resistance.

Oliver has written a blog about the poster, his current, and earlier SPCR funded research
