The School for Primary Care Research has an open funding call for its 9 members the University of Bristol, Exeter, Manchester, Nottingham, Oxford, Southampton, Keele University, Queen Mary University of London and University College London.

Frequently asked Questions
When will I have to start my project?
The earliest start date is 1st October 2021. Your project can start at a later date, but will need to end on or before 30th September 2024.
When will I know if my application will be successful?
The School aims to inform all applicants of the outcome by the end of July. However, projects can't start before October as time is needed for contracting.
What does an application comprise of?
By noon 18th June the applicant will need to submit the application form, which is hosted online as a Google form, a Gantt chart and a costing spreadsheet. The costing spreadsheet and Gantt chart needs to be submitted via email to Georgina.email@example.com.
Can overheads be included in the budget?
Yes, 30% of staff costs can be included as overheads in the budget.
Can researchers outside one of the 9 partners be included in the application?
Yes, researchers outside the School can be costed in the grant. Non-school members are not eligible to lead applications and it is anticipated that funding will typically support external investigator time (e.g., 5% FTE). The SPCR would not usually support new posts outside of School membership. When external collaborators are included, it is essential that the rationale for this is provided.
How many partners should be involved in an application?
It will depend on the size of the grant you request, overall the higher the requested amount, the more partners are expected to be involved. Typically there should be at least 3 School members.
How much can be spent on computers?
NIHR does not expect the cost of computer equipment to exceed £650 (though this can be slightly higher if specialist software is involved).
Is there a format for the project protocol?
No, there is no set format or template. It can be submitted as either a word of PDF document, as long as it is no more than 12 pages.
