The NIHR School for Primary Care Research (SPCR) invites medical students to apply for the George Lewith Prize, an award created to honour the legacy of Professor George Lewith.
A respected figure in academic primary care, Professor Lewith was Professor of Primary Care at the University of Southampton and SPCR training lead. His pioneering research, particularly in complementary medicine, and his dedication as a mentor, supervisor, and training lead left a lasting impact on the field.
Following his passing on 17th March 2017, the School established this prize to continue his legacy. The award seeks to raise the profile of academic primary care and inspire promising medical students to consider a career in this important discipline.
Who Can Apply?
The prize is open to all medical students at UK universities. The winner will have their registration fees covered for the Society for Academic Primary Care (SAPC) Annual Scientific Meeting, taking place from 24-26th June 2026 in St Andrews.
