Award Title: PhD Programme for Primary Care Clinicians

Project Title: Exploring person-centered care, care environments and care planning for people with dementia from South Asian backgrounds in the UK.

Brief Summary: I am a GP, with a background in Medical Anthropology and an interest in research that explores the intersection between dementia, culture and inequalities in healthcare. I have recently commenced the PhD Programme for Primary Care Clinicians. My PhD aims to explore person-centred care, care environments and care planning for people with dementia from South Asian backgrounds, using ethnography as my main methodological approach. The project will incorporate a systematic review, ethnographic fieldwork and co-design, to try and better understand the experiences of South Asian communities in relation to dementia and caring, and to develop improved frameworks and resources for care planning in primary care.

Start Date: 1st October 2022
