Congratulations to former SPCR Trainee Dr Francesca Dakin, who has recently been named a winner of the 2026 RCGP/SAPC Award for Outstanding Early Career Researchers.

Congratulations to Dr Francesca Dakin | Outstanding Early Career Researcher Award 2026

The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and the Society for Academic Primary Care (SAPC) have awarded the Primary Healthcare Scientist category to Dr Francesca Dakin, Senior Researcher, Mildred Blaxter Fellow and Junior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford. This award recognises the contribution of early career researchers to advancing primary care theory and practice.

Dr Francesca Dakin is a primary care researcher whose work focuses on improving patient care and outcomes through better understanding and use of health data in primary care. She completed her DPhil, funded by the NIHR School for Primary Care Research (SPCR), exploring the implementation and impact of interventions aimed at improving healthcare delivery within general practice settings. Her research interests include applied primary care research, health services improvement, and the translation of evidence into practice to support more effective, equitable care.
