The University of Manchester's Charles Li has written a piece in 'Patient Safety' about research on physician burnout. The findings show highlight important trends including:

1. Doctors are getting burned out and it's affecting patients

2. Burned out doctors have twice the rate of patient safety incidents and low professionalism

3. Burnout has been increasing, but some specialties face more burnout than others.
