The NIHR School for Primary Care Research (SPCR) holds an annual competition for undergraduate medical students in memory of the eminent clinician, academic and mentor Professor George Lewith. The competition reach is beyond SPCR members and is open to all medical students from across the UK and provides our winner with the opportunity to find out more about academic primary care and become involved in research.
Congratulations to our 2022 Winner
Congratulations to Isabel Leach from the University of Sheffield, who has been awarded a funded place at the Society of Academic Primary Care (SAPC) 50th Annual Scientific Meeting, being held on the 4th to 6th July 2022. Isabel's submission was on 'Understanding patient views and experiences of the IDENTIfication of PALLiative care needs (IDENTI-Pall): A Qualitative Interview Study'.
I am delighted to have been awarded the George Lewith Prize for my research investigating the experiences of patients in the identification of their palliative care needs. I am passionate about patient-centered research and hope that this project, undertaken as part of my intercalated BSc, will lead to improvements in patient care. It is an honour to be recognised for my work by the NIHR School for Primary Care Research, and I look forward to presenting my work at the SAPC conference this July.
