The NIHR School for Primary Care Research (SPCR) awarded up to eleven General Practice Commercial Research Fellowships, hosted by various universities across the UK.

General Practice Commercial Research Fellows Opportunity

The NIHR School for Primary Care Research (SPCR) has received funding from DHSC and NIHR to support a cohort of eleven General Practice Commercial Research Fellows. These fellowships aim to strengthen collaboration between general practitioners and key research partners, including the NIHR Research Delivery Network and NIHR Commercial Research Delivery Centres.

The primary focus of the fellowships will be to build capacity for commercial research delivery in out-of-hospital settings, particularly by increasing the involvement of general practices in commercial research. Fellows will be provided with dedicated time to engage in this important work, contributing to the advancement of healthcare research in primary care.

Fellows will be hosted by each one of the SPCR’s member institutions - Bristol, Exeter, Keele, Manchester, Nottingham, Oxford, QMUL, Southampton, and UCL - with additional fellows based in former SPCR members Birmingham and Newcastle. Fellows will receive academic support from their host institution and have access to a wide range of NIHR SPCR training resources. The will also benefit from being part of a supportive peer network and work closely with experienced academics to aid their professional development.
