Patient and public involvement and engagement
Patient and Public Involvement, and Public Engagement are integral to the School's research and capacity development activities.
Our patient and public involvement and engagement activities are informed by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) policy on patient involvement and the National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement.
The School funds high quality primary and secondary research in order to fulfil our commitment to developing effective involvement and engagement activities. Patients, mental health service users, carers, and members of the public with an interest in primary care research are encouraged and supported to work in partnership with researchers on projects carried out across the NIHR School for Primary Care Research.
What is patient and public involvement and engagement?
Public engagement encompasses the various ways in which the activity and benefits of higher education and research can be shared with the public in a two-way process. Engagement encourages researchers to listen and interact with the general public.
