Capturing Impact: articulating the 'why' and 'how' of public involvement
NIHR
Thursday, 29 February 2024, 12pm to 1pm
A useful first step to capturing the impact of public involvement is articulating the overarching aim and breaking down ‘how’ this will be realised. This step can define the ‘key ingredients’ necessary for effective public involvement and help ensure these are in place. We welcome Carmel McGrath, Adele Webb and Noreen Hopewell-Kelly as speakers. This event will provide an overview of comprehensive approaches for capturing impact, including programme theories and logic models, that have been used and evolved in NIHR-funded initiatives. Such approaches can help articulate the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of public involvement, and increase the likelihood of ‘success’.
The event will also include a presentation on impact logs, a simple framework designed to facilitate reflection from researchers and the public on their involvement activities. This event concludes a series of sessions exploring approaches taken to capture the impact of public involvement. A summary of the sessions to date, with links to past recordings, will follow.
