Following the findings of the Black in Primary Care Research Leadership project the SPCR will be hosting a residential Black in Primary Care Research Event in September 2026.

Black in Primary Care Research Event

The SPCR will host a residential Black in Primary Care Research event on 22–23 September at the The Jubilee Hotel & Conferences, informed by the Black in Primary Care Research Leadership project led by Ralph Akyea at the University of Nottingham.

This two-day event (programme to be confirmed) will bring together colleagues of Black heritage working across primary care research, building on the momentum and insights generated through the project. The event will provide opportunities for networking, collaboration, and professional development, as well as a dinner on the evening of 22 September.

We have capacity for 40 delegates. Of these, 30 places are ringfenced for the School, with the remaining spaces available more broadly. Any unfilled School places will be opened outside of the School. If the event is oversubscribed, we will allocate places with consideration to geographic spread and professional background.

The event is open to individuals of Black heritage who are currently working in primary care research, at any career stage. Please note that, due to the nature of the programme, attendees will be expected to be available to attend both days of the event.

We would be grateful if you could share this opportunity within your departments. Anyone interested in attending is asked to express their interest by emailing:

📧 spcr@keele.ac.uk
🗓 Deadline: Friday 5 June

Expressions of interest should include the following details:

  • Full name and email address
  • Current Higher Education Institution
  • Current role
  • Career stage

Further details and a registration link will be shared with confirmed participants in due course.
