Three Schools’ Mental Health Programme–funded research is contributing to growing national consensus around more holistic, person-centred community mental health services.

Health and Social Care Committee's new inquiry report on Community Mental Health Services

Emily Oliver and team's Three Schools' Mental Health Programme-funded WHOLE-SMI project is cited in the Health and Social Care Committee's new inquiry report on Community Mental Health Services ("Research such as the WHOLE-SMI project (Wellbeing and HOListic hEalth promotion for people with Severe Mental Illness), led by Newcastle University, reinforces this perspective.

Participants in its community advisory group, comprising people with lived experience and carers, said that they valued support that recognised the interconnectedness of mental and physical health, and the importance of employment, housing, and social connection."). Many of the report's overall recommendations are aligned with our findings (e.g., longer term commissioning contracts; investment in cross-sector workforces, and prioritising person-centred care).
