The SPCR recently hosted an online masterclass on Designing Inclusive and Accessible Health Research

SPCR Masterclass Recording | Designing Inclusive and Accessible Health Research

The masterclass on Inclusive Research Practices for primary care researchers and doctoral students has now taken place, and the recording is available to view.

This one-hour online session focused on practical strategies for making research recruitment and participation more accessible and inclusive for autistic individuals. Drawing on co-produced guidelines developed with autistic adults, the session explored common barriers in research materials and offered guidance on improving inclusivity in study adverts, participant information sheets, consent processes, and communication practices. Attendees were provided with practical tools to enhance the accessibility, clarity, and inclusivity of their own research processes.

The session was delivered by Dr Jane Vennik, Senior Research Fellow and health services researcher, whose SPCR postdoctoral fellowship focuses on improving annual health checks to support self-management and quality of life for people with learning disabilities, and Dr Sascha Miller, Senior Research Fellow and behavioural psychologist with expertise in developing inclusive interventions using the Person-Based Approach.
