Your Voice Matters, the main output of a 2024 SPCR PPIE grant lead by Sarah Harrisson, is a powerful new film created by people living with chronic pain to inspire, connect, and drive more inclusive research.

Short film highlighting chronic pain aims to encourage more research participants

A new film, Your Voice Matters, from researchers at Keele University has been released to mark Pain Awareness Month this September. Created by people who live with chronic pain for people with chronic pain, the film explores what it is like to live with pain, the value of connecting with others, and the importance of taking part in activities that matter - including research.

The project is the main output of a 2024 SPCR Patient and Public Involvement & Engagement (PPIE) grant award titled 'Broadening Engagement and Awareness of Chronic Pain and of Public Involvement (BEACON)' by lead Sarah Harrisson and was one of six SPCR innovative projects funded to build relationships with under-served communities and make research more inclusive.

The stories featured in the film are powerful, inspiring and hopeful.
Your Voice Matters very much aligns with the aim of the Pain Awareness Month movement to highlight the need for better understanding, support and research for people living with pain.
