New trainee representatives
The ESWG recently invited applications for ESWG Trainee representation and are delighted to welcome Jonathan Livingstone-Banks (Oxford), Tom Kingstone (Keele) and Peter Hartley (Cambridge) as joint trainee representatives. The ESWG training leads will be working with the new representatives to identify and implement additional ways in which the group can support trainees across the school.
Trainee placements
There are a number of cross-school review teams who would welcome trainees / Early Career Researchers to collaborate on reviews. The ESWG teams will soon be disseminating information about these opportunities; expertise required; anticipated workload; opportunities with involvement; and review team contact details via the ESWG website and trainee networks.
Training bursaries
Applications for ESWG Bursaries were invited last year, which proved very competitive. The group hope to offer further ECR/trainee bursaries to support involvement in reviews in future.
Methods clinics
The ESWG brings together international leaders in the field of evidence synthesis. Drawing on this expertise, the group will shortly be announcing 'ESWG Methods Clinics'. Members of the SPCR (including those outside of the ESWG) will be able to book appointments in the clinics to get methodological advice on ideas for new reviews or specific advice about existing reviews.
Student Internships
A number of SPCR medical student internships were awarded last academic year. These included support to complete an ESWG review (http://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO/display_record.php?ID=CRD42018108741). These awards have facilitated a range of conference, paper and grant submissions. The 2019 student internships are to be launched soon, so watch this space!
